The decision whether to buy the Canon 7D or rent the Canon 7D is what is perplexing many young filmmakers these days. We put this blog post together to help with that very issue.
Buy the Canon 7D: If you can afford the purchase and you will need the use of this camera for more then 30 days in the year then the YES purchasing the camera makes sense.
Rent the Canon 7D: If you need it for a two or three day shoot and then will not require it for the next six months then rental makes more sense. As good as the Canon 7D is, there will always be the next generation. The longer you wait, the better the next Camera will become.
Buy the Canon 7D: If you are traveling and you want to always be camera ready. The Canon 7D fits very nicely in the over head compartment
Rent the Canon 7D: The bodies are only as good as the lens package you put on it. While the price of the Camera decreases, the lens value stays stable (just don’t scratch it!)
Buy the Canon 7D: Being that it is a light weight, small camera, you will have less issues when filming in public places. Video cameras atract attention, still cameras in video mode do not
Rent the Canon 7D: Absolute Rentals in Burbank now carries the Canon 7D and you will love these guys.
Coming up in our next Canon Blog will be, Canon 5D MKII or Canon 7D shootout!!!
